CSV FILE FORMATS


Each CSV file contains records in one of two formats: Information Items, or Connections. All lines in a CSV file must be of a single Information Type or Connection Type. You can upload the files in the "Data" area of the D*ChoC application.
 
Information Items File Format:
  • Each line consists of Details for an individual Item separated by commas and terminated by a “Return’ or “Enter” symbol (internally \n)
    • Each Detail must be pre-defined in the definition of the Information Type in the DChoC.
    • Details may be in any order and not all Details of an Item need be included, but each record must have the same Details in the same order.
    • Example: A file of Information Items of Type Book mght look like this:
      Book1, Ethics For Villains, A. Moriarty, 2024, 312-1-53-874309-5
      Book2, Detecting Villains, S. Holmes, 2025, 312-1-84-603281-4
Connections File Format:
  • Each line consists of a Connection Type, the Key of an Ancestor Item and the Key of a Descendant Item separated by commas and terminated by a “Return’ or “Enter” symbol (internally \n).
  • Each Connection Type must be pre-defined in the DChoC.
  • Example: A file of Connections might look like this:
    Item-Item, Book1, Book2
    Item-Item, Book2, Book3
    Item-Item, Book2, Book4
